SkillsFuture Study Award for Human Resource

The SkillsFuture Study Awards equip Singaporeans with the skills needed to benefit from quality jobs created by our economy. As Singapore continues our transition to an innovation-driven economy, new skills and competencies among Singaporeans will be in demand. Jobs are also evolving with new functions and existing ones requiring updated skillsets.

The SkillsFuture Study Awards encourage Singaporeans to develop and deepen specialist skills needed by future economic growth sectors or in areas of demand. It also supports Singaporeans who already have deep specialist skills to develop other competencies.

How does it work?

You will receive a monetary award of S$5,000 which you can use to defray out-of-pocket-expenses associated with the course that you will be taking. It can also be used on top of Government course fee subsidies. You do not need to serve a bond. See our list of FAQ's at the bottom of the page.

Sector Overview

The SkillsFuture Study Award for HR is one of the key initiatives under the HR Industry Manpower Plan (HRIMP) to strengthen the HR profession in Singapore. It supports HR professionals to continually deepen their skills in the sector, allowing them to be more effective in developing people strategies that benefit the workforce and support business transformation.

Ministry of Manpower (MOM) has appointed the Institute of HR Professionals (IHRP) as the program manager to administer the Study Award.

IHRP is the HR professional body set up by the tripartite partners (namely Ministry of Manpower (MOM), National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) and Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF)) to set up the HR standards of excellence and enable human capital development in enterprises. More information on IHRP can be found on IHRP's website at

The award monies will be disbursed directly to the individual who is successful in his/her application via bank transfer

  2. Under the eligibility criteria, it states that course cannot have commenced at the point of application, does this mean that I can only apply for a course 8-10 weeks after the application and only when the application is successful?

As part of the application process, applicants are required to submit 'letter of acceptance" from the course they have enrolled for. This means they should proceed to apply and be accepted for the course prior to the application.

Applicants are required to read on the application process and ensure their course they have enrolled for falls within the window period: Oct 2021 – Mar 2022. IHRP trusts that applicants will do their due diligence to check through the website before applying.

  3. What happens if my application is not successful after payment has been made to training providers?

IHRP encourages all applicants to apply for their respective courses despite the outcome of the award. The award is typically oversubscribed by 3-4 times in each application window, and only a limited number of awards is given out each time.
